Central Ward Elementary School Lufkin Central Ward Elementary 1942.
1st through 6th grade. Was located where the Civic Center stands today. I began my schooling here in 1947.

Lufkin High School 1908 Lufkin High School 1908. May have been both the Senior and Junior High school level combined. Building razed and later, Central Ward Elem. was built at this location. Still later, Lufkin's Civic Center was located here. Old Burke Store and Post Office. About 6 miles south of Lufkin on U.S. Hwy 59.

Lufkin High School 1914 - 1936 Lufkin High School to 1936. Was located at Raguet & Ellis. Later became the Junior High. Building razed and now a parking lot
for Lufkin Industries.

Lufkin Texas Charter Members, 1947. First meeting after receiving charter on April 29, 1947.
Lufkin High School 1945 Lufkin High School 1937 to 1955. Located between Raguet and Angelina near Denman, it later became Lufkin Junior High. Old Texas Highway Dept. Office Old Texas Highway Dept. Main Office, 1940's. Remember the fish pond/fountain, squirrel cage and tennis court? There was nothing but a short fence between my home and a great big playground.
Lufkin High School Lufkin High School 1955. High School was relocated to a new site and this is now Lufkin Middle School. Grades 6, 7 and 8. Highway 147 Lake Bridge Sam Rayburn Lake Bridge, 1958., Construction of new State Highway 147 Bridge under way in preparation of closing the locks and filling the new Lake Sam Rayburn.
